Sweet Myrrh or Opoponax Gum comes from the trees of the Burseraceae family. It has a warm-balsamic and sweet-like aroma with hints of floral in its scent. 
 
Incense and Smudging: Like other types of myrrh and resin incenses, opoponax gum is often burned as incense in religious and spiritual ceremonies. The smoke is believed to carry prayers, intentions, and offerings to the divine, as well as to cleanse and purify the space and participants.
Aromatherapy: Opoponax gum has a warm, sweet, balsamic, and slightly spicy scent with hints of citrus. It is often used in perfumery as a fixative and base note due to its rich, complex aroma. It adds depth and sweetness to fragrances and is a common ingredient in amber perfumes.
